This is an 8x10 high quality digital print of the second image in my Severing Trilogy, which is an homage to something that inspired me. This description comes in 3 parts, here's Part 2:
I do have my own thoughts about the meaning of each of the individual pieces, and what they mean when combined together. The process of making these was also meaningful to me; I feel like I stepped a bit closer to my ideal type of work, which is focused primarily on mood and less on perfect representation, while simultaneously using digital tools to a fuller extent.
Hi! I'm Akshata, I've been an artist for as long as I can remember -maybe since when I was 5 years old? I didn't really focus on one medium when I was younger, jumped around from pencil, acrylic, dabbled in oils, tried a bunch out. I finally settled in on watercolor when I was around 16, and got into digital art when I was 21.
Now, I consider myself primarily a watercolor painter and digital artist. There's something about watercolor that really speaks to me, it's a medium that's simultaneously loose and chaotic, but often takes a lot of thought and control to execute in the way I like. I really enjoy the dialogue between this order and disorder, and I'd love to explore it more in that medium. Currently my watercolors, along with my other work and thoughts I have about it, are hosted on: https://workbyakshata.wordpress.com/
More pertinent to this store, I love the freedom and scope of options that digital tools bring to art making. It's a similar dichotomy of being able to do literally anything on a digital canvas, but needing to be judicious and creative to pick the right state. I'm still searching for the type of subject matter that really lights a fire in my heart, but I will list the elements I love to incorporate in my work: lighting, atmosphere, mood, color, and space. My long term goals are to improve in portraiture and environments, but I'm currently focusing on developing skills and techniques to make work I'm proud of. I'll continue to update this website with new work whenever I make something I think is worth selling.
Thank you for reading about my art! I hope you get something from my work.
